We're Jamming...

The night was cold but dry dry dry.  The ramp was crisp, as dry as I've seen it this winter looks like the the curtain and cardboard frost barrier did the trick. The usual ramp crowd plus some new faces came down and the comp commenced with some big tricks being pulled nice and early. 5 mins left of the jam and everyone started to raise the bar. Highlight tricks included Smedley's bigspin blunt fakie, Daz's beastly front lip, Daley's backside melons and Ball's eggplant. Crip.

Congrats to the three winners; Some nice lines were rewarded with a deck and tee to Smedley, Daz won best trick having a nice set up to play with over Crimbo and Harry impressed us all with his 'mobile arse plant' slam winning some goodies as a consolation prize. Thanks to everyone for coming, Blue Dog, Leon for shooting, Rollersnakes and Ledge skate shops for the prizes and Twentyfour (RIP) for looking after the ramp again this year.

Skatepark input form

It all starts here. We need as much input as we can get from the skateboarders of Derby and the rest of England to produce the best skatepark yet. It will be a huge, regionally significant 'superpark', and it will have an effect on skaters all over England. It's critical that in these initial stages of research we get the most accurate results possible, so it's down to all of us to chip in with our opinion.

Go here

Fill in the input form to get your opinion to count for the future of skateboarding in England.

Welcome to winter

It's officially winter. Derby definately needs an indoor skatepark... but we're working on it. Until then we're blessed with dry carparks and undercover petrol pumps. Great places to brush up old favourites and new tricks.

"Back To The Roots"

If you were in SoCal in the 1970's you would have seen the transition from surfing to the birth of skateboarding. If you weren't then it is always good to go back to the roots. Surfing in Cornwall during half-term...SWEET...Rad Dad.

We're getting bigger!

If you think you could spare a couple of hours a week to help us then let us know!

We need people to be part of Hooked and push the scene forward. We're looking for skaters who can be at events, help people learn tricks, write / film / perform trick tips and help organise jams etc.

If you skate and you're interested, get in touch by email (juffs@hookedextreme.com) or if come and say hello if you are at the University of Derby volunteer fayre on 30th October 2007.

Hooked, are you ready?

Hey kids, it's that time again, Hooked is about to start the sessions, the After School Club, coming onto the scene on the 11th October 07 and Ramp Thrash Saturdays on the 3rd November 07. Were starting the PE lessons early next year and some special events and stuff in the near future, so keep glued to the site.
The Hooked committee did an excellent job in getting more funding (alot of hard work on Dave and Beccas part) for the 2007/8 year. We intend to spend some of the money on new ramps and other bits and bobs. We also plan to move into the film making side of extreme sports a little more and plan to put another movie together in the new year. This means getting you kids more involved with the movie making side of the skate industry, should be fun.
Don't forget we always need help with updating the website so don't be shy in sending in photos, write ups and events, that we can use. Its easy, just email dave at dave@hookedextreme.com
As you can see its an exciting time for Hooked..word up..Rad dad

Barcelona trip

Just got back from Barcelona. That place really is the skate capital of the world. Even if the spots (although amazing) are blown out from everyone doing every trick you can think of there, the atmosphere and tolerance is amazing.

We visited 4 of the main skate spots and caught up with some pros along the way.

MACBA has an amazing atmosphere, every evening it's filled with about 50 skaters. The standard of skating is extremey high, these guys have great weather and great spots.

Classic spot Sants has been in so many videos, the benches have had so many grinds they are rounded on the edge.

The Universitat blocks are the best, be warned - they are higher than they look...

MACBA keyhole gap - this is scary. If you're brave you can grind through the space and off the end. Beast.

Fondo is a huge space with lots of 5 sets, benches and banks. The hips are excellent, steeper than they look though.

Element shop. You don't get these in England.

A local at MACBA warms up.

Blueprint hero Tuukka Korhonen back lips the block.

Dave meets Tuukka.

Dave meets DC pro Jody Smith - part of the DC King of Barcelona competition entourage, go to http://www.dckingof.com to see the action of the competition that went down.

Others have been...

Becca at MACBA big 4... and believe they are big. Check out Emerica 'This Is Skateboarding' to see these being hammered by Andrew Reynolds.

The DC Shoe team session the keyhole gap at MACBA for footage.

Greg Myers switch bs flip, it makes you think...

Brian Wenning was filming lines...

And Josh Kalis watched the action.

The public accept skateboarding in Barcelona, people stop to watch your tricks. ground is always smooth, the spots are amazing. You're bound to see some big tricks. Just go there.

Lookout for the footage from this trip on the next Hooked video.
